Booze Like a Champion

Every two years the world gathers around the television to watch the Olympics. The Rio Summer Olympics kicked off Friday August 5th with the opening ceremony and people were mesmerized by the simplicity, colors and performances of it. For the first time Michael Phelps was able to march in the parade of nations and because of his record holding metal count he carried the flag for team USA leading out 562 Americans to compete this Olympics. Team USA hold the most metals in Olympic history with 975 gold, 757 silver and 669 bronze metals to date. Mt Rose Drinks put together some drinks and alcohol infused snacks to go along with some of excitement so far this Olympics.

 

Women’s cycling- Annemiek van Vleuten of Netherlands was in the lead until her crash that left her unable to finish the race.

 

Ingredients:

4 oz. Strawberry cocktail mix

1.5 oz. Vodka

1 cup Ice

Blueberries

Whipped cream

 

Method:

Blend together the strawberry cocktail mix, vodka and ice. Pour into a glass, top with whipped cream and blueberries. Serve and enjoy!

 

Men’s gymnastics- French gymnast Samir Ait Said broke the bottom part of his leg during his vault landing taking his chances away from a metal.

 

Ingredients:

Cherries

4 oz. Piña Colada Mix

1.5 oz. Coconut Rum

1 cup Ice

Blue sprinkles

 

Method:

Blend together piña colada mix, ice and rum. Dip cherries in the blended mix then the sprinkles. Place the dipped cherries on wax paper and freeze for 1 hour. Serve and enjoy!

 

Women’s gymnastics- Gabrielle Douglas can’t defend her gold metal due to a rule that does not allow 3 athletes of one country to compete in the finals for gymnastics.

 

Ingredients:

Red Jell-O

White Jell-O

Blue Jell-O

1.5 oz. Vodka

 

Method:

Make each Jell-O according to the directions on the box, replacing .5 oz. cold water with .5 oz vodka. Pour the blue Jell-O into a mold until it is 1/3 full, place in fridge for 1 hour. Place white Jell-O on top of the blue Jell-O until the mold is 2/3 full, place in fridge for 1 hour. Fill up the rest of the mold with red Jell-O, place in fridge for 1 hour. Serve an enjoy!

Ingredients:

2 oz Tequila

6 oz Margarita Mix

Ice

 

Method:

Blend together all of the ingredients and add to glass. Garnish with a gold straw and enjoy!

Ingredients:

1.5 oz. Gin

1 TBSP Sugar

½ Limes Juice

3 oz. Club Soda

Ice

 

Method:

Shake together all of the ingredients. Pour into a glass, serve and enjoy!

 

USA Bronze-

Women’s 100m Butterfly- Dana Vollmer

Men’s 100m Breaststroke- Cody Miller

Women’s 400m Freestyle- Leah Smith

 

Ingredients:

1.5 oz Vodka

4 oz Ginger Beer

Lime

Ice

 

Method:

Fill a copper mug with ice. Add vodka and ginger beer. Squeeze the lime to get about half of the lime juice out. Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!
