Help us find the Best Bloody Mary in Reno!
Inspiration struck two weekends ago! I’m searching for the best Bloody Mary in Reno. I was in Old Sacramento just exploring the area. Hot, lazy Sunday, not much to do, you get the picture. We came across a really small bar called River City Saloon. The sign outside is what caught my attention, “Serving Sacramento’s Best Bloody Mary.” A bold claim but this inspired me to find Reno’s best Bloody Mary! Over the next several posts I will be visiting bars around Reno in my hunt for Reno’s best (life is hard, I know). If you already know who makes the best Bloody Mary in town, let me know in the comments!
The Bloody Mary I had at this place was great, but I want to see what Reno has to offer.
As I walked into this place, it took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust to the dim lighting. This is definitely and old school style bar. From the wooden drinker that sits at the end with his never-ending whiskey bottle, to the empty peanut shells laying all over the floor. It has the look of a dive bar, but the feel of an old-fashioned saloon. For good reason too. This place is old, but in a good way. The original building was framed wood that was replaced with brick in 1857. Let’s get to the Bloody Mary though!
The Bloody Mary was fantastic! I can’t vouch for it being the best in Sac because I haven’t tried others there, but it was delicious. I wish I knew what Ryan (bartender) had put in it, but I didn’t ask. If you like spicy, you’ll love this mix. It wasn’t heavy on the tomato, which I like, but the spice wasn’t overpowering either. The Worcestershire was noticeable, but not so much that it took away from the drink. It wasn’t amazingly garnished, but the nice sweet & spicy balance more than made up for it. The rimming salt that Ryan used really added to the different flavors. I would love to know who makes it. Overall, great Bloody Mary- I hope Reno can do better though!
